We are focused on giving you the very best education in your chosen profession and the ability to handle the myriad issues confronting our designed, planned and built environments. Master of Architecture The Master of Architecture is a two-year, fully-accredited, professional degree. Students complete four semesters of design units, each of which is vertically integrated, giving the students the opportunity to work with and learn from each other. During the first three semesters students study in the Urban Architecture Studio, the Sustainable Architecture Studio and the Digital Architecture Studio, each for one semester, and complete a substantial Graduation Project during their fourth semester. The studios are supported by taught units in Architectural History and Theory, Advanced Architectural Technologies, and Professional Practice. In addition, there are a wide range of elective units from which students may choose in order to extend their knowledge and skills into other related areas. The completion of the Master of Architecture degree will allow students to proceed to professional registration with the NSW Architects Registration Board, subject to obtaining approved practical experience and passing and architectural examination. Architectural and Urban Design Hybrid knowledge and skills that cross the professional boundaries of architectural and urban design and embrace international perspectives are highly sought after everywhere. In fact, they are essential in a world dominated by rapid changes of all kinds (technological, cultural, economic and social), unprecedented urban development, and transnational and multidisciplinary design practice. To participate in this program is to pursue knowledge that will extend your understanding of the changes affecting architecture and urbanism. Studio and project-based units lie at the core of the program and are arranged to advance design abilities from architectural through to urban scales. The main supporting units offer new perspectives on design issues by way of contemporary theory and emerging methods of investigation and design, and extend understanding of the nexus between architecture and urbanism. Core units of study include Graduate Architectural Studios, Urban Design – Ideas and Methods, Modern Architectural History and Theory, and Urban Environment.
